Times & Treasures

David+ and I were laughing recently about the crates of posessions people who do what I do traveled with to far off places, until fairly recently. They lugged furniture, libraries, phonographs (er, sound systems), and their grandmother's china all over the world. I travel lightly, partly because it is my nature, and partly because I've had some help. In fairness to my predecessors Ipod, Kindle, and laptop make help a lot. I did bring some personal effects along. I sent a box of books and a couple favorite photographs. I'm always both surprised and pleased when I see what went into the box. Two volumes of Merton, two of Yeats, BCP, Bible, Love God Heal Earth, Trauma Stewardship, Living Buddha, Living Christ, Living Buddha-Living Christ, Emerging And Fresh Expressions Of Church, and a collection of poems, Leading from within. I've read them all but one, some many times. Like traveling with old friends. A little bit of home. Travel lightly. The last one was a gift from two dear friends, just before I left. I have read "The Opening of Eyes" by David Whyte, a favorite poet Stephen introduced me to some twenty years ago.
