Igreja Sao Pedro

Reverenda Carmen Etel Gomes is the rector of Igreja Sao Pedro. She is a tireless advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women and she is committed to ministries for the under served. Members of the parish bake bread in their small bakery on Wednesday mornings to share with the hungry. Carmen+ also serves as the Chair for the Companion Diocese Committee, Curitiba. Igreja Sao Pedro welcomed me June 28th with friendship and hospitality. The lunch was fried chicken, risotto and potato salad. Guitar and acordion music added to the festive day with this vibrant community. Marcelo and his father both lived on Cape Cod and speak English fluently. He, his mother, and Carmen+ took me on a walk through the historic district of Curitiba the third or fourth day I was here. It is one of the many beautiful sections of the city. Next Sunday Marcelo will be confirmed at I.S.P. We will gather again that day.
