Lent

In John, Nathaniel is called by Jesus "an Israelite in whom there is no deceit". "Israel" is the name given to Jacob who had been deceitful. John names Jesus' kingship "the Son of God, The King of Israel", and also associates his "sonship" with the prophetic supernatural knowledge of Nathaniel under the fig tree. During Lent, the period of self examination, I have looked for my deceit and violation in my contract with God. Where is my betrayal? How have I separated myself from God? St. Paul states, "When I know my weakness, I become strong in God's strength, I receive in my broken self the deathless life of the Risen Lord".
