Packing Up

My dear friend Victoria drove me on some last minute errands this afternoon. In the car with two Ridgebacks, a rough coat Jack Russell on my lap, and three young men about to graduate from high school in the back seat. All that energy and potential of youngsters about to embark on new adventure. Polite, engaging, and full of personality. Charlie is a jazz pianist and going to New York in the fall to study music later downloaded music on my Ipod, just as he did before I headed for Africa. He has an incredibly broad interest in music and the icons of jazz, classical, rock, and soul music. I let him make the choices for me, knowing that I'll enjoy the music and learn something new. I packed two boxes of books to send ahead Friday. Yeats, Rumi, Merton, and a new book Sheila and Marc gave me, a book of poetry titled "Leading". My worldly possessions in two big canvas bags and a carry on. Journey on.

Thinking about you as you travel to the airport this morning. You carry my love with you, my friend.
