Brazilians are extremely kind. I appreciate the hospitality and generous hearts of my hosts, and I am also very grateful for the kindness of many stangers. Very few people speak English, and at times I have forgotten every word of Portuguese I thought I knew; especially when my bank card didn't work, and when I discovered that ATT+T had given me an incorrect access code for calling the U. S. In both instances, someone took time to help me, as we both struggled to find words we understood. I hope that I will respond similarly the next time someone who doesn't speak my first language asks me for directions or assistance. Lots of folks are helping me to find my way, I am most grateful.
