Brazilians have a much loved word that does not translate into English.
They own the word "saudades". I am told by a friend that it means "I am and I live because of all that I love". I am so aware of that belief, for I could not be on this journey without those who support me, the places that nurture and ground me, or the incarnate spirit of Christ. I leave the familiar and all that is safe in this place that I love, to expand my circle of family and friends in this unknown place that calls to me. The world grows smaller and larger at once.
