Encouraged, Chided, & Nudged
I've not made entries in my blog journal lately, but I've written in my now battered brown leather book that Alexandra gave me before I left for Africa last year. I've been encouraged, sometimes chided and nudged a little to transfer my entries to the blog. I realized that while blogging, tweeting, using Facebook, and instant messaging are great ways to be in touch with the world; it can also be an obstacle to being completely immersed and present where we are. In our Lenten practice, we learn the discipline of letting go to make space for taking on; not only for that season, but daily. It becomes far less about what we give up, but more about that which become and the gifts we discover.
