Curiosity & Imagination

I wonder why we so often think of curiosity and imagination as child's play. Lying in the grass and seeing figures in the clouds or constellations, playing dress up, or putting fireflies in a jar with pierced holes in the top, and wondering about what seems to be a source of light. To dream beyond the horizon as I did as a child, inspired by my grandfather's stories, photographs, a View Master, and books. And, then we are asked to "stop the dreaming" and "get serious about the real world, and get to work". Fortunately, some keep dreaming, as scientists, economists, dancers, musicians, painters, writers, and environmentalists. There is so much potential and so much possibilitity in all that we do. For those who have surrendered their curiosity and imagination, may they reclaim what surely is their treasure.
